We had to use our 'Dangerous Structures' tape to fence off the area. In the real world, unsafe buildings or structures can cause chaos and risk far beyond a bit of mischief. That's why our Hertfordshire Building Control team is always on call to assess and address potentially dangerous buildings and structures quickly and professionally. Elvis the Inspector Elf - certified competent to Level 2a in mischief had a very productive night at the office. Instead of brushing up on building regulations, he decided to put our photocopier to great use. Yep, dozens of elf backside prints greeted us this morning. He is prioritising… team morale over actual work. Clearly, Elvis Inspector thinks his "cheeky" contributions will help with compliance processes. ??♂? So, if anyone needs copies of Elvis's best side, just let us know. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the #Fireconference2024 with David Aitchison, and I’m still reflecting on the insightful discussions shared throughout the day. It was a day filled with learning and networking, with high quality CPD. The highlights for me were the talks given by Professor Shane Ewen and Dr. Rowena Hill MBE. The first of these two talks was fascinating session on the history of deregulation, with Professor Ewen's book one to add to my reading list. Professor Hill also delivered an impactful talk on the socio-economic consequences of fire and other catastrophic events. If you get the opportunity to attend a talk/lecture by either or both, I would recommend. It was also great to catch up with Dr. Gavin Dunn, who did a remarkable job leading the conference, and also to catch up with Richard Harral. The day concluded with a memorable evening event hosted by the Worshipful Company of Fire Fighters, it was a privilege to have been invited. The theme of collaboration continued from the conference, spending a lot of the evening engaging in conversation with Richard Smith, putting aside partisan ideas and proving once again that the public and private sectors can be not only civil, but friendly and constructive. #buildingsafety #firesafety #fire #CPD #buildingcontrol
