A museum honoring and sharing the stories of Broomfield, Colorado's veterans.
关于我们
The Broomfield Veterans Memorial Museum honors local veterans of all the United States conflicts and peacekeeping efforts, from the Civil War to the present, from all branches of service. The museum not only shares the stories of Colorado veterans, it is a center for veterans to connect, students to learn about our nation’s history, groups to explore the rotating exhibits, and families to honor their loved ones who served in the military. The museum houses nine rooms of exhibits, a library with over 2,500 history/military books and hundreds of archived videos of veteran interviews, and a multimedia room that seats over 40. The museum is free and open to the public and offers docent-guided or self-guided tours, and, twice a month, a presentation called Coffee and Conversation, where you can hear fascinating stories from local veterans and historians. The museum is also engaged in local civic events and educational outreach efforts, from local schools to senior care facilities. The museum was founded in 2002 by six late Broomfield-area World War II veterans, whose legacy is now carried forward by a team of volunteers, many of whom are veterans themselves. All are invited to come see the displays and hear the stories.

City & County Manager, ICMA-CM | Fiscal Sustainability | Organizational Leadership | Fostering Innovation
As I began my day, before heading to the annual event @ the Broomfield Veterans Museum (our community is so fortunate to have such a place to gather, remember, learn, share stories, memories and explore memorabilia - all in an effort to keep the history alive), I had to pause and ground myself in the true meaning and intention of the day. Our team received the message below from our Public Works Director, Ken Rutt and thought I would share an abbreviated version. City and County of Broomfield Ken Rutt (work) Don Davis, MPA, MSS, ICMA-CM Its lengthy, please take the time to read it in its entirety - you’ll be glad that you did. With deep gratitude and love in my heart - thank you to each and everyone of you that has served our country and the families that support you. To All, Today, Veteran's Day, we need to take a moment and reflect, give thanks, and share our appreciation to all who served and are serving our great country. To those who served in our armed forces - Just to say thank you doesn't seem to begin to describe how grateful I am for your service. To the families who supported our courageous men and women, who felt the worry, the loss and the selfless pride, Thank you! We must never forget our history, it is what helps us achieve today and prepares us for tomorrow. “The valor and courage of our young women and men in the armed services are a shining example to all of the world, and we owe them and their families our deepest respect.” — Bill Frist “True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.” — Arthur Ashe History of Veterans Day (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” On October 8th, President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first “Veterans Day Proclamation” which stated: “In order to insure proper and widespread observance of this anniversary, all Veterans, all Veterans’ organizations, and the entire citizenry will wish to join hands in the common purpose. "On that day let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate our- selves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain." - President Dwight D. Eisenhower

This Saturday, November 9 at 10am–?Tyler Brownell?is a recent graduate with double Master Degrees in International War Studies. His Master’s dissertation was on the subject of?Lend-Lease to the Soviet Union?during the Second World War. More than just an aid program, Lend-Lease was an instrumental factor in Allied victory on every front, and even had impacts thousands of miles from the frontlines, and which lasted decades after the war ended. ???
