Yesterday, I had some really great chats with the teams at Overlook Medical Center’s eating disorder program and SUMMIT PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES, and it’s continues to be clear that partnership and connection as providers in shared support of those in need of our care continues to be so important to the work we do as separate entities.
To be honest, I didn’t even notice the quote on this mug until I was halfway through my coffee at SPS, but then it struck me and I thought about it most of my ride home.
You might say we’re in the butterfly business - helping people see what beauty could be of their future, scary as it may be to let go of what we know (i.e. an eating disorder, mental health disorder, or substance use disorder), on the promise that what’s to come will be so much better, more authentic to one’s true self, than how things are now.
It’s also a reminder for all of us to remember, in our own life journeys, that transformation is hard, but necessary, if you want to be who you dream of being.
Trust that the other side is beautiful. ??
