Yesterday, I had some really great chats with the teams at Overlook Medical Center’s eating disorder program and SUMMIT PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES, and it’s continues to be clear that partnership and connection as providers in shared support of those in need of our care continues to be so important to the work we do as separate entities. To be honest, I didn’t even notice the quote on this mug until I was halfway through my coffee at SPS, but then it struck me and I thought about it most of my ride home. You might say we’re in the butterfly business - helping people see what beauty could be of their future, scary as it may be to let go of what we know (i.e. an eating disorder, mental health disorder, or substance use disorder), on the promise that what’s to come will be so much better, more authentic to one’s true self, than how things are now. It’s also a reminder for all of us to remember, in our own life journeys, that transformation is hard, but necessary, if you want to be who you dream of being. We had a joyful day at Palmer Recovery Center and had a special visit from Discovery Behavioral Health & Brookdale Premier Addiction Recovery DISCOVERY DELIVERED DONUTS FOR OUR DOWNWARD DOGS ?? !! A big shout out and thank you, to Emily Leonardo from Discovery, for stopping by to bless us with coffee and donuts for our veteran community. This is one example of the little pleasures in life that can bring us such joy and contentment! Our friends coming by and continuing to support our veterans and mission. Our yoga participants enjoyed this special treat today, as we gathered in community to reflect on Santosha, or contentment. It is the seemingly small and simplest things, that can bring us the greatest joy. Corine guided us through a slow yoga practice, with a focus on gentle core strengthening and hip opening. The day was filled with abundance and gratitude, as we move into our weekend feeling energetic and positive.
