Bronx Pro Group is a women-owned, neighborhood-based firm dedicated to community development through affordable and sustainable housing investments. Since 1988, BPG has completed the development of over 2,500 affordable housing units along with commercial and community spaces with a total development cost of $600 million. Currently, the company has $335 million of development under construction and approximately $335 million in pre-development. In 1998, HPD selected BPG for its Neighborhood Entrepreneur Program (NEP). The program transferred City-owned buildings to private, neighborhood-based property managers for development into low and moderate income housing. BPG renovated more than 300 apartments under the program. In 2004, BPG was selected by HPD and NYCHA to launch the agencies’ brand new collaboration to transfer underutilized, NYCHA-owned properties to private developers for the creation of low-income housing. As the first developer under the HPD/NYCHA Development Collaboration, BPG completed University Macombs Apartments which consisted of four vacant multifamily buildings containing 180 apartments and a vacant lot. The existing buildings underwent moderate renovation and a new 30-unit building was constructed on the vacant lot, along with 15,076 SF of commercial space. Due to the success of that project, BPG was awarded a second 111-unit project (University Macombs Apartments II) and a third 173-unit project (University Avenue Consolidated 3) from NYCHA. In 2009, BPG began construction on it first LEED Gold Certified, moderate income residence at 850 Jennings Street. Additionally, 1070 Washington Avenue is the second LEED Gold Certified development by BPG and serves some of New York City’s most vulnerable populations. Preservation of occupied distressed properties is a critical component of BPG’s affordable housing mission. BPG's in-house construction affiliate, Home Builders 1 LP, offers renovation and relocation services to distressed properties.

The Network was thrilled to join the Office of Mayor-Elect Eric Adams and NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development today to celebrate the announcement of record numbers for #supportivehousing units developed and preserved in a single year, at Services for the UnderServed's new affordable & supportive residence, Melrose North. Network Board Chair and Breaking Ground (NYC Permanent Supportive Housing) President and CEO Brenda Rosen, provided remarks, "We are thrilled to celebrate a great milestone for New York City with an historic number of supportive housing apartments – over 2,100 – the most on-record in a single year produced for our City's most vulnerable." The Network released the following statement in response to this announcement: Today’s historic announcement of a record number of supportive housing units developed and preserved in a single year reaffirms New York’s leadership in the effort to end chronic homelessness. ? For over 40 years, New York has pioneered the model of combining affordable, quality housing with voluntary services. We applaud the City’s ongoing commitment to the most effective means of helping our most vulnerable neighbors live with dignity. ? This year alone, the City created a record 1,500 new homes and preserved an additional 649. The administration clearly understands that the only way to truly end chronic homelessness is by creating and preserving more supportive housing.? ? This is incredible progress and an important step in the right direction, but we are still far from meeting the ever-growing need as our city continues to combat crises on multiple fronts – from housing affordability to mental health to increasingly deadly opioids. ? It's more important than ever that we maximize our limited resources to ensure we are developing the kind of housing, and providing the kind of services, that vulnerable New Yorkers require to succeed. ? At this point, the allocation of congregate units under the original NYC 15/15 is almost complete, while less than 20 percent of planned scattered site units are operational. The Network stands ready to work with the administration on a reallocation plan to create additional congregate units under NYC 15/15 and to preserve our essential existing stock to maintain – and surpass – this year’s remarkable achievements.
