At our recent 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day handover, we were reminded of the profound impact a simple act of kindness can have on those in need. “We take blankets for granted, but for many, warmth is a human right.” - Carolyn Steyn, Founder of 67 Blankets. Carolyn’s words resonated deeply as we celebrated another successful year of this incredible initiative. With every ball of wool and every knitted square, we are not just creating blankets we are knitting nations together. For Broll Property Group, this is more than just a partnership; it is a commitment to leading with legacy. As our Group CFO, Elscke Badenhorst shared: “It’s truly incredible how a simple blanket, woven with care, can embody such love and warmth. This is the spirit of Ubuntu in action.” The response to our Group CEO, Malcolm Horne’s challenge - from our Brollies nationwide, the shopping centres we manage and their dedicated teams, to old-age homes and local communities across South Africa - was nothing short of extraordinary. We not only met our goal but exceeded it fivefold, donating over 350 blankets!
