John Schnauck scaled his business to $1M+ in yearly revenue in Accelerator! You may have seen us talk about John before… To recap, returning from a year-long sabbatical with his family aboard their sailboat, John knew he wanted to go back to work, but was not looking forward to the grind. Yet when he asked his wife, Alexa Evans Schnauck, when he had been happiest in his career, she replied that it was when he was a headhunter. Passing the “ATS Test” – I was unfamiliar with some of today’s applicant tracking system (ATS) capabilities.??The ATS Test refers to how well a candidate's application materials, particularly their resume, perform when processed by an Applicant Tracking System (ATS). An ATS is software used by many companies to screen, organize, and manage job applications. It also can evaluate resumes based on specific criteria like keywords, formatting, and relevance to the job description. I am not a fan of applying to a company’s career page.?Try to figure out the hiring manager, be different, and go from there.?But, if you decide to apply and go the ATS route.?Here are some thoughts. The ATS does keyword searching, parsing, scoring/ranking, filtering, etc.?Some key components include: 1. Your resume should have relevance to the job description.? 2. Formatting – it is suggested to avoid graphics 3. Clarity – use clear sections and avoid excessive abbreviations and uncommon terms 4. Content Structure – get relevant information out early and bullet style is recommended In summary, to pass this test customize your resume for each role.?Match the language in the job description and don’t exaggerate.?Use an ATS-friendly format, and incorporate keywords naturally.?Check for ATS compatibility and services – resume writers and tools like Jobscan, Resumeworded simulate how an ATS might process your resume.?Highlight relevant skills and achievements.??This doesn’t guarantee you get the next step, but it sure helps!

Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons of each model: Hybrid –? ? Pros - Flexibility, work-life balance, reduced commuting stress/time, collaboration, adaptability ? Cons – Logistical challenges, lack of consistency, commuting still exists, potential inequities, technology dependency Remote –? ? Pros – Flexibility, cost savings, increased productivity, broader talent pool ? Cons – Isolation, communication challenges, distractions, blurring boundaries, tech dependencies In-Office – ? Pros – Collaboration, structure, access to resources, team cohesion, career visibility ?
