94 acres of sprawling countryside set the backdrop for this rare continuing care retirement community in Hunt Valley, MD
关于我们
Join our caring and compassionate team that makes up the fabric of our community. As part of the Quaker values, Broadmead appreciates the contribution of every individual employee. To reflect this, Broadmead offers competitive wages and generous benefits including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, paid leave, and retirement plans. Our unique continuing care community is nestled on 94 acres of sprawling countryside set in the picturesque rolling hills of Hunt Valley, Maryland. The beauty of the natural surroundings can only be surpassed by the warmth and vitality of the people who work and reside here. The Stony Run Friends Meeting founded Broadmead as a way to serve the needs of older persons. It opened in 1979 as a private, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community. Broadmead continues to operate under the guidance and ownership of a Quaker-guided, not-for-profit corporation. Help bring our vision to life: The Broadmead vision is to be a leader in the development of high quality, innovative solutions that enrich the lives of older people. And we can't do that without our employees. If you're looking for an environment that allows you to deliver the type of care that fosters independence, growth and opportunities in elderhood, Broadmead offers you that chance. Last month, The Griots' Circle of Maryland held its annual fundraiser, “Love Is The Essence of Life,” at the Randallstown Community Center, celebrating the vibrant tradition of African and African American storytelling. Founded in 1989, the Griots' Circle continues to preserve this cultural legacy through powerful performances and community engagement. The event supported our storytellers and the Growing Griots youth program, bringing together a night filled with love, culture, and connection. Congratulations to Broadmead Team Members of the Month, Djoser Menkaura and Steve Alcarese! ?? In his very first year at Broadmead, Djoser Menkaura (pictured, left) has been recognized by fellow team members and has been awarded the Team Member of the Month for June. Hired in August of 2023 as a Heavy Duty Cleaner in the Maintenance Department, Djoser was cited for “his attention to detail, his work ethic, cheerful demeanor and team player attitude all make him a great addition to our community.” Fellow team members and residents commented: “Djoser…is always thinking of ways he can make the community as a whole look nicer.” “Djoser is the biggest team player—he has helped cover many shifts at the last minute to ensure we have appropriate coverage.” “Djoser has taken the cleaning of the floors and the care of them to a higher level. He has received numerous compliments from the residents about how he is taking care of their carpet cleaning needs.” “Wow! Djoser is terrific! Friendly and upbeat and does an incredible job!” ?? One of everyone’s favorite figures on campus, Steve Alcarese (pictured, right) was selected in July as Team Member of the Month for a second time, having been first honored with the distinction in October of 2020. Hired in November 2005, Steve is a Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician. Appreciative comments came in from fellow team members and residents: “Steve is always willing to help out in a quiet way, often going above and beyond.” “Steve does any task with diligence. He has kindly assisted the Nature Committee by putting up bluebird boxes and has done several other tasks in the nine years of my residency.” Steve “fixed my walker—five minutes of his time and a GREAT relief for me.” “Team Members of Steve’s caliber should be recognized!” —Written by Jackie Mintz

Dear Friends, Our mission at Broadmead calls us to foster a community where dignity, respect, and compassion are the guiding principles of our shared life together. We are more than a place to live; we are a place committed to celebrating each person’s inherent worth, creating an environment that uplifts, supports, and respects everyone equally. We believe that a community built on such a foundation cannot turn a blind eye to injustice. In recent days since the election, disturbing reports have surfaced of hateful messages targeting Black Americans. These messages—intended to incite fear and divide—stand in direct opposition to Broadmead’s values. Let there be no ambiguity: hate has no place here. Our values of inclusion, respect, and empathy compel us to not only denounce acts of discrimination and hate but to actively build a community where all individuals are safe, seen, and valued. This is a time to embody our mission in every word, every action, and every choice. To that end, if you or someone you know has been impacted by these messages, I encourage you to report them to the Civil Rights Division of the Attorney General’s Office or the Maryland Commission on Hate Crimes Response and Prevention. Their resources, available through an online complaint form here — https://loom.ly/DgZPFGo — are essential for ensuring that these acts are addressed and tracked. Together, let us continue to live out Broadmead’s mission, standing united in our commitment to a community that reflects the strength of our values—one where every individual is honored, and every voice is valued. With respect and in shared purpose, Jay Prince | President and CEO
