The earthquake hit near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second largest city, causing destruction that’s affecting countless people. In Myanmar, buildings and bridges have been destroyed, roads and airports are damaged, and telecommunications are down. While nearly 800km from the epicentre in Bangkok, high-rise evacuations took place as a skyscraper under construction collapsed in the Chatuchak district. The Myanmar Red Cross Society is helping people on the ground. And the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC is supporting the National Societies in #Myanmar and #Thailand. The increase in fighting and the pause in aid delivery in Gaza is a grave development that has left the lives of millions of people in the balance. The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is responding to the renewed hostilities across Gaza and will continue to work together to support all those affected by this conflict. People urgently need respite from hostilities, access to life-saving humanitarian aid, all remaining hostages to be released and for humanitarian and medical workers to be able to carry out their work unhindered and in safety
