It’s been a busy week so far for our CEO
Chief Executive of the British Frozen Food Federation promoting, representing and supporting companies across the UK’s frozen food industry
A crazy week. And it is only Thursday morning.......... Tuesday was the British Frozen Food Federation's 76th Annual lunch and the industry was out in force. With approaching 800 members and guests descending on London, some were sadly stuck at home with cancelled trains due to the snow. However, the majority got to our excellent new venue in time for lunch where the team at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London looked after us extremely well, serving some superb food. Thank you to Giorgia Rigodanza and her team. As the 100th Anniversary of #FrozenFood draws to a close, Karen McQuade-Simmonds delivered her inaugural speech to a packed room and was followed by the excellent guest speaker Jason Fox. The hotel bar was big enough to accommodate everyone so the packed room hummed into the evening. Wednesday morning and it was off to Lion Television to film for two documentaries. The first one was a minor bit part on ready meals which all went fine, with the second Christmas programme somewhat testing my inner ‘Bah Humbug’. Lion: ‘Would you be happy wearing a Christmas Jumper for the second programme?’ Me: ‘Sorry, I don’t have one with me’ (Phew!) Lion: ‘Ha ha – don’t worry! We have one right here that will fit you’. And fit me it did - hooray (not sure that was in my contract). So, look out in mid-December for a ‘Frozen V Fresh: Which is Best?’ Christmas edition to find out who wins and, if nothing else, enjoy seeing me in my jumper. Thank you to Lion Television's Lee Ainge and Katie Crawford for a very enjoyable afternoon talking for hours about our members’ amazing products, and I look forward to the final cut (maybe the jumper bit will hit the cutting floor?) And the rest of the week? Today I am looking forward to catching up with Emily Miles, Director General at Defra to talk about food policy as well as a meeting with IFE - International Food & Drink Event as that is not that far away now. We also are approaching deadline day for the retail entries for the British Frozen Food Awards so the focus shifts to that as of today - the entries are flooding in so we now need to start looking at getting our consumer panels in place across the Country to judge them. Get your retail products in for 29th November to test your new products against the best of the rest! (Foodservice entries, don't panic - you have until the end of January) A busy week, but so far a very rewarding one. #ThinkFrozen

Welcome to our BFFF Annual Lunch! We can’t wait to see you all very soon at our new venue Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London!
Chief Executive of the British Frozen Food Federation promoting, representing and supporting companies across the UK’s frozen food industry
It is snowing in London! That can only mean that the Frozen Food Industry is on its way for the British Frozen Food Federation's Annual Lunch 19th November 2024. Nearly 800 people from across the industry will gather today at our new venue Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London. There are one or two tractors battling the traffic too as farmers head to Westminster in force. A new venue, our newly elected President Karen McQuade-Simmonds, and our exciting guest speaker Jason Fox mean it will be an excellent day for all. For all of you travelling to us, to avoid the congestion around Westminster, we recommend using Waterloo station rather than Westminster and taxis may be slow due to the traffic. Thank you to our sponsors Greenyard Frozen, WAGNER Group GmbH, Troo, Seara, Vestey Foods UK Ltd, Action Foods Ltd, Fullers Foods International, Freiberger (UK) Limited and IFE - International Food & Drink Event. I will see you all shortly! #ThinkFrozen #FrozenFood #AnnualLunch
