The Embassy accompanied a delegation from the Ministry for Housing during a study visit to Botkyrka Kommun, to hear how local government can work for a thriving community. We got plenty of inspiration from Botkyrka officials, the organisation Kompis Sverige, local spiritual leaders, the adult education organisation SFI, and representatives from Botkyrkabyggen.

So what has our Department of Business and Trade team been up to lately? Well, this, among other things... ??
Recently I had the pleasure of being part of Saab UK’s Fareham official opening by SoS Jonathan Reynolds MP at Department for Business and Trade (DBT). It's always a pleasure to meet Micael Johansson, CEO of Saab and Andy Fraser MSc CEng, MD Saab UK, who hosted us all. This investment will support up to 400 jobs and provide local opportunities for apprenticeships. ? This state-of-the-art manufacturing site is supporting both UK domestic defence capability, as well as UK exports. I think this is a great example of what DBT Sweden support can help to achieve, with an international investor, becoming a UK exporter. It was a pleasure to visit, and to continue the conversation on what Sweden and the UK could do together in space.
A pleasure and honor to welcome British Embassy Stockholm and Swedish Air Force to SSC's Esrange Space Center. Focusing on international collaboration, competitiveness and security, the strategic importance of orbital launch capabilities in northern Sweden was emphasized. ”The unique capabilities at Esrange are significantly important for international space research, as well as the Swedish total defense where it forms an asset for international security. We are ready to contribute further commercially, military and dual use,” said Karin Holmqvist, Head of Public and Governmental Affairs at SSC - Swedish Space Corporation. "We welcome this opportunity to develop the conversation between the UK and Sweden on space. This visit highlights our shared interests on defense and scientific research, and the need for innovation as space nations,” said H.E. Samantha Job, UK Ambassador to Sweden. ”Earlier this year, the Swedish Ministry of Defense released its space strategy for defense and security. The Embassy team set our sights on space during out visit to Kiruna... ?? SSC - Swedish Space Corporation welcomed Ambassador Samantha Job, Defence Attaché Peter McCreedy, alongside the Chief of the Space Division at the Swedish Airforce, Johan Nystr?m. In the past, this is where British Skylark rockets were launched for nearly half a century - and there is plenty of scope for collaboration in the future too. ?? The visit continued to Kiruna Space Campus, where we heard from Swedish Institute for Space Physics, Lule? University of Technology and EISCAT - lots of food for thought on how Sweden and the UK can learn from each other in the ever more crowded space around our planet. ??
