Our final Alaska Native Heritage Month highlight features Teddy Coopchiak Jr.'s lesson on filleting salmon at the 2024 BBNC Young Adult Culture Camp! Teddy also describes some of the process in Yup'ik! He uses an uluaq to remove the qamiquq (salmon head) and tells us waken ayagluku (start from here) to show where he begins cutting the fillet. Quyanaa, chin'an, quyana, and thank you to all the culture bearers who allowed us to share these traditions and celebrate our Native way of life!
