We are happy to share that in the latest episode of The Imprint News Weekly Podcast, Brightpoint CEO Mike Shaver and University of Illinois School of Social Work researcher Will Schneider discuss the impact of Empower Parenting with Resources (EmPwR) pilot! In the podcast, Mike and Will discuss the research framework and the potential transformative impact. How will the research part of the study work? 800 families are part of this randomized control trial, with half receiving monthly, unconditional cash payments for 12 months. The amount varies by family size and local cost of living, ensuring an equity-focused approach. Outcomes like child maltreatment, family stability, and parental well-being will be tracked through administrative data, surveys, and interviews. The goal of the study is to?see if cash intervention can reduce child maltreatment, prevent costly foster care placements, and improve outcomes for vulnerable families. This program reflects Brightpoint’s ongoing commitment to developing strategies rooted in research and best practices to inform sound public policies.
