This week, we’re celebrating Jennifer Hoffman, our full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and her two Duke University School of Nursing PMHNP students, Kristin Smith and Misa Davis. These inspiring humans were were full-time nurses AND mothers when they decided to go back to school. Each of them saw the need for compassionate, specialized psychiatric care for teens and chose to step up and be part of the solution, balancing the demands of work, family, and education with remarkable resilience. Jennifer, Kristin, and Misa understand that helping teens and families navigate mental health challenges requires much more than just providing treatment. It’s about creating a safe, comforting space where questions are welcome and information is empowering. For many of the families who come to Bright Path, psychiatric care and medication can feel intimidating, confusing, or overwhelming. By listening, educating, and empathizing, these women make it easier for teens and parents to explore their options and use tools like medication as part of their journey toward wellness. Jen’s commitment to teens is holistic; she works with clients and families to explore not only medication but also the importance of healthy habits like sleep, nutrition, and managing stress. And she takes time to show that medication isn’t a cure-all but a support that can make it easier to build life skills and resilience. We’re beyond grateful for the compassion, dedication, and energy that Jen, Kristin, and Misa bring to our community every day. They’re making a profound difference in the lives of the teens and families they serve, and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate them this week! ?? Pictured: Jennifer Hoffman with Kristin Smith and Misa Davis—three inspiring women committed to empowering the next generation through skilled, compassionate care. (and who fully embrace our sloth mascot) Thank you, Jen, Kristin, and Misa, for all you do. #NursePractitionerWeek #MentalHealth #TeenMentalHealth #Gratitude #NPsMakeADifference

As the temperatures drop and the fall chill sets in, we're still feeling all warm and fuzzy thinking about our inaugural alumni party! It wasn’t the beautiful weather or the fresh cotton candy that filled the day with joy, but the love, laughter, and sense of community we shared. From reconnecting with familiar faces to celebrating the vibrant life and joy of every person there—those moments are what truly kept us warm. Here’s to many more celebrations, memories, and heartwarming moments together! #Community #AlumniParty #WarmMemories #GratefulHeart #MentalHealthMatters #TeenMentalHealthMatters

We're excited to introduce another of our five master’s-level interns joining us this academic year at Bright Path Behavioral Health! Selena Nguyen is a Master of Social Work student at UNC-Chapel Hill. Before joining the Bright Path team, Selena supported children and adolescents struggling with disordered eating at Veritas Collaborative as a therapeutic assistant. She also has experience working with adults as a case manager and as an employment specialist in non-profit, clinical, and community settings. Selena is passionate about increasing access to quality mental healthcare for all people, especially those belonging to underserved populations. She believes that quality care is trauma-informed and person-centered where every facet of one’s identity is acknowledged and embraced. She aspires to be a psychotherapist and work with adolescents where identity formation is most influential. Make sure to check back next Tuesday to meet another incredible new team member! November is Native American Heritage Month and the perfect time to read Bright Path's latest blog post on what we learned this past Indigenous People's Day. TL;DR: Indigenous thinkers and native American culture is the reason we are able to treat children on an outpatient basis with humanity, dignity, and respect. When we fail to recognize the contributions of Indigenous peoples, we risk losing the diversity of thought and wisdom that can guide us to a brighter future.

Here at Bright Path Behavioral Health, joy isn’t just a feeling—it’s part of the job description! And no one brings it better than our psychiatric nurse practitioner, Jennifer Hoffman. Halloween is her absolute favorite holiday, and she goes all out every year, sharing the excitement with her family, her neighbors, and, of course, our team. Jen doesn’t just bring Halloween spirit to work; she brings her whole self. She lives right here in the same community we serve, and her love for the season is contagious (in the best way!). We’re not just working in the community; we are the community, which is why our commitment to the Bright Path mission runs so deep. From costumes to camaraderie, every single one of our team members—interns to leadership—shows up with a dedication to making Bright Path a welcoming, joyful space for teens and families alike. Please enjoy these photos which capture our staff fully decked out for Jen’s favorite holiday, along with Jen and her family welcoming thousands of trick-or-treaters at their decorated home in the heart of Wake Forest. Special thanks to our talented intern Sarah Beaver (Wahid), who did Jen’s amazing makeup. Here’s to community spirit, Halloween costumes, and the kind of joy that spreads smiles far and wide! #BrightPathBehavioralHealth #CommunityPride #HalloweenHappiness #TeenMentalHealthMatters
