When we commit to clean energy, we create more sustainable, efficient, and affordable communities. This past weekend, Aaron Wiener of The Washington Post featured Brightcore's geothermal installation happening at Barry Farm, a historically significant mixed-use, multi-family development. It is the first large-scale community geothermal system to be installed in D.C. This project brings together public and private entities to implement leading clean energy technologies in what are oftentimes, underserved communities. Alongside POAH Communities, the DC Housing Authority, and the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia, we're proud to lead this effort to deploy next-generation geothermal heating and cooling to D.C. residents—proving that sustainability and urban environments can go hand in hand. Seeing this project recognized on this scale reinforces why we do this work. Read more:?https://lnkd.in/gak9B3RP. Brightcore. BUILDING. ENERGY. We're proud to be part of the growing momentum around adopting geothermal technology in multifamily buildings across New York City, as featured in this recent story penned by Samantha M. in THE CITY. Our own Jonathan Hernández Director of Geoscience, put it best: "It's a cheat code, in a way, to hack bedrock temperature in your favor." The energy transition is happening not just in commercial offices and institutional spaces but also in the places where people live. As projects move from concept to construction, we see more developers embrace and prioritize clean, reliable heating and cooling that benefits both buildings and residents. The future is under our feet. Read more: https://hubs.ly/Q03dnGNM0. Brightcore. BUILDING. ENERGY. Connecticut is considering a significant step toward networked geothermal systems with HB 6929, a bill that would create grants and loans to support the development of thermal energy networks. By harnessing underground thermal energy, these systems reduce emissions, stabilize energy costs and enhance indoor air quality, providing a scalable approach to efficient heating and cooling across entire communities. States like New York and Massachusetts have already paved the way, passing legislation to support utility-led geothermal networks. With over 25 pilot projects proposed across the U.S., momentum is building to make thermal energy networks a key part of the clean energy transition. Learn more: https://hubs.ly/Q03czXc_0. Fun fact...today, March 14th, is Solar Appreciation Day! First started in 2009 to celebrate and recognize the enormous potential of solar energy and the benefits it can have to mitigate climate change. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) more than 200GW of solar energy has been installed across the U.S. in the last decade. Last year alone saw 50GW, making up 84% of all new electricity capacity in the U.S. and marking the largest single-year increase for any energy technology in over two decades. With every panel installed, we’re one step closer to a cleaner, more sustainable future. Happy Solar Appreciation Day?? Brightcore. BUILDING. ENERGY. The U.S. community solar market hit a new milestone in 2024, installing 1.7 GWDC of capacity—a 35% increase from the previous year. According to a new report from Wood Mackenzie and the Coalition for Community Solar Access, much of this growth was driven by New York, Maine and Illinois, solidifying the States' leadership in expanding access to clean energy. Community solar is expanding while also making renewable energy more accessible and equitable. New York and Massachusetts now account for 49% of all low-to-moderate income (LMI) community solar capacity, demonstrating how strong state policies and incentives are creating real impact.
