Thank you to Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF) for a new, in-depth case study of electrification at BRIDGE Housing Corporation's Foothill Farms, a property serving seniors in Sacramento, CA. We are proud to partner with Carbon Zero Buildings, which completed the retrofit, replacing aging systems with heat pumps, LED lighting, EV chargers, and more. Early reports show that gas use has been reduced by 93%?while keeping costs low for residents and increasing property net operating income (NOI).
Sustainability and affordability go hand in hand. SAHF and its members are committed to building and operating energy and water-efficient, low-carbon homes that benefit both people and the planet. See how SAHF member BRIDGE Housing Corporation transformed routine equipment replacements into an opportunity for high-efficiency electrification—lowering operating costs for both residents and the organization while preserving affordability in #California. Great to see electric heat pumps delivering significant energy savings at NYCHA’s Woodside Houses. This week, ?in THE CITY, learn more about swapping steam radiators for eco-friendly, electric heat pumps, plus Bright Power’s Punit Shah, P.E., C.E.M weighs in on using window-mounted heat pumps to more easily decarbonize your building. “Any solution that does not require an electric upgrade is one leg up because you are already looking at a lower cost.”?
A heat pump pilot at New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)’s Woodside Houses in Queens is delivering impressive results nearly two years in. Since July 2023, 72 electric heat pumps have replaced steam radiators across two buildings, cutting energy use by over 87% and nearly halving energy costs. "Tia Cheng, who lives at the Woodside Houses with her grandmother, described the heat from the window-mounted heat pumps as 'more consistent and comfortable' than what she got from the radiators."
