We are very excited and grateful to announce that we have been awarded a very generous grant from The RSM US Foundation through their annual Power of Love Program! This grant will help in supporting programming for our centers, evening care, and our therapeutic & health services. The RSM US Foundation was founded in 2014 by RSM US LLP (“RSM”) — the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax, and consulting services focused on the middle market. A tax-exempt public charity, the foundation is dedicated to building tomorrow’s middle market leaders by supporting educational outcomes through programs designed to help individuals develop career paths to become entrepreneurs or middle market business leaders. Their foundation also provides support to organizations committed to providing stable environments for youth in the areas of hunger, housing, and health which help them excel in education.

We are very excited to announce that Bright Beginnings, Inc. has been awarded a $25,000 grant from The Evelyn S. And K.E. Barrett Foundation to open infant and toddler child development centers at Lorraine H. Whitlock Elementary School, and Garfield Elementary School in Washington, DC! “Bright Beginnings relies on the generosity of private funders like the Barrett Foundation to maintain the public-private partnership that is a hallmark of the Head Start program” said Erin Fisher, Bright Beginnings’ Chief Executive Officer. “We are also proud to partner with DC Public Schools on the opening of these infant and toddler child development centers. Over the last year, thanks to our generous donors, BBI Students have excelled and made great progress! A few achievements and milestones include: • 66% of Early Head Start and 72% of Head Start students met or exceeded the national average on their COR Advantage Assessment at the end of last school year. • 117 children received support or intervention from our health and therapeutic services team; 183 consultations held with parents on behavioral concerns or managing family struggles. • BBI children overall increased conversational turns per hour by 23% according to our Language Environment Analysis program; low talkers increased a staggering 122% with targeted intervention. She enrolled at Bright Beginnings (BBI) last program year just as our new physical education program was getting off the ground. Physical education is vital in early childhood education. Regular physical activity helps young children develop strong muscles, bones, and coordination. It also promotes cardiovascular health and helps establish healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Bright Beginnings has set a goal to raise $15,000, which will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor! A donation of just $25 can provide more equipment for our Physical Education program or a week supply of fresh fruits and vegetables from our farmer’s market.
