Changing lives through horses and habits.

关于我们

Bridle Up Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation with the mission to inspire hope, confidence, and resilience in young women through equestrian training. Our story began with a girl named Rachel Covey who loved horses. Rachel battled with depression for many years, but found great fulfillment in helping other struggling young women find hope through riding horses. Rachel's family recognized the bond that exists between a girl and a horse—a bond that a can help a girl build confidence and overcome personal struggles. In 2013, in Rachel's memory, the Coveys started Bridle Up Hope to help other struggling young women. Bridle Up Hope was designed to provide a transformational experience for girls when life has never been harder on them. Girls face relentless pressure to live up to impossible expectations—to have the perfect body, be skinny, be pretty, be popular, get perfect grades, be athletic, and so forth—which often leads to low self-worth, anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Our Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) curriculum teaches girls to recognize their inherent worth and potential, and to approach life with correct paradigms of themselves and others. The program combines equestrian training, life skills development, service at the barn, and self-renewal activities, with principles from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People integrated throughout. To date, 2,000+ girls and women have now experienced Bridle Up Hope and we have expanded to 10+ global locations. Our vision is to partner with 1,000+ barns to bring hope to millions of girls and women worldwide.

Back in 7th grade, I stumbled upon a book in my school library filled with incredible stories of girls achieving extraordinary accomplishments—climbing mountains, flying planes, and sailing oceans. These stories ignited a spark in me: if they could do it, so could I! That sense of hope and possibility stayed with me and shaped the ambitious, adventurous spirit I carry today. However, the reality for many young girls and women is often different. According to the CDC, nearly 3 in 5 U.S. teen girls reported feeling persistently sad or hopeless in 2021—twice the rate of boys. That’s why I’m grateful to be part of the team at Bridle Up Hope, where we combat these feelings and instill a sense of empowerment. The program uses the healing power of horses and blends that with the proven concepts of the '7 Habits of Highly Effective People.' As a horseback riding instructor, I have the privilege of mentoring young girls through the habits and horses. Witnessing their growth and confidence has been nothing short of inspiring. It's like reading a chapter from that book that inspired me long ago, but now I see the impact through a different lens. Let’s continue to uplift and empower young girls to embrace their authentic selves and pursue their dreams! Photos: These Captured Hearts Photography

    What is your personal mission?

Do you have a personal mission statement? Most organizations have a mission statement. A credo of why they exist, what their purpose is. However, in our work with leaders around the world, we find that many haven't taken the time to write a personal mission statement. What your why is. The type of person you want to become. A vision of how you want to contribute to your family, your friends, your work, your community, your world. Writing a personal mission statement will provide guidance and power in every role of your life, as it has for me. It will impact your leadership journey. You can start writing today with our free (and fun) Mission Statement Builder tool. Link in the comments below. Feel free to re-post. I'd love to hear how you've gone about writing your mission statement, and how that has impacted you.

Sept 6th is a tough day for our family. On this day 12 years ago my younger sister, Rachel, passed away from the effects of depression, which she had battled with for several years. ? Rachel was kind and full of life. She loved her family, friends, home-made salsa, FIJI Water?, and all things tropical. She also loved animals, and at one point owned a dog, a cat, chickens, lizards, a chinchilla, and several horses. ? Today is also a beautiful day, because 12 years ago was the start of Bridle Up Hope, a nonprofit organization created in Rachel's memory--with a mission to inspire hope and resilience in young women who struggle with mental health. This mission is accomplished through a unique program that combines equestrian and leadership training. Bridle Up Hope has since changed the lives of 2,000+ young women, 65% of whom are from low-income households, and this nonprofit program is now expanding to equestrian centers across the world. ? As I think about Rachel, she was one of those people who would light the flame of hope in others. Today I'm grateful for the many leaders and good organizations around the world who do just that. ? "In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit." - Albert Schweitzer
