Funds raised will support our youth programs: mentoring, training, and supporting youth age 14 to 22 through their high school and post-high school career exploration and readiness; supporting efforts to divert youth from involvement with the justice system, including entrepreneurship as an option; staffing a Sensory Room in the Palisades Center Mall, giving children and adults a safe space to practice coping skills and emotional regulation strategies; and expand our partnerships with school districts and youth-serving organizations. Hearing impaired until the age of 40, then receiving cochlear implants and the gift of hearing, Mike took advantage of his stand-up comedy dream at the age of 45! He burst onto the scene and is a crowd favorite as he tells his incredible journey of a hearing/non hearing life! Mike has worked with many national acts like Bobby Collins, Sebastion Maniscalco, Jon Lovitz, and Craig Gass just to name a few, having played comedy clubs all over the east coast. The Empowerment Award honoree at this year’s In My Shoes is Former WRCR Radio Host Steve Possell! Steve Possell had a 50+ year career in radio, the vast majority spent on air in Rockland County. Born blind, Steve taught himself in college how to operate radio station equipment with little support from peers. After a stint in Missouri radio while still in college, Steve met Art Athens, who would become a force in New York Radio. After college, Steve joined Art in New York, spending his career discussing individual or community problems, empowering many by giving them a voice - oftentimes resolving a problem right on the radio!
