BLCK VC is transforming the venture capital industry to mirror the diverse demographics of the U.S. Venture Capital is a crucial component of achieving economic equality; it is a vehicle to build wealth, develop future leaders, and strengthen communities. BLCK VC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that equips Black investors with the access, education, and community they need to accelerate their careers in venture capital. We do not accept the status quo; we are driving the industry forward by pushing venture capital firms to become more inclusive in their hiring, deal flow, and portfolios. Venture firms in the United States invest over $130 billion annually, however, Black investors have systematically been excluded from mobilizing this capital. Today, only 3% of venture capital investors are Black; additionally, only 2% of partners–individuals that make investment decisions–at venture firms are Black. Over the past few years, there has been slow and sporadic progress within venture capital to become more inclusive. BLCK VC aims to transform venture capital into an inclusive engine for change and generational wealth creation by shifting the demographics of the venture industry to mirror the diversity of this nation. In the short term, we strive to double the percentage of Black investors and Black partners in venture capital to 6% and 4%, respectively, by 2024.

We SO enjoyed our Summer Soirée event in Martha's Vineyard! Today's #MorningMotivation celebrates the incredible BLACK PEOPLE I had the pleasure of meeting at yesterday's BLCK VC reunion on Martha's Vineyard! Since graduating from Blck Venture Capital Institute Cohort 6 (undoubtedly the BEST cohort!), I've been consistently inspired by the intentional efforts of Black individuals in this field. From the organizers and sponsors to the speakers and my fellow cohort members—your dedication motivates me daily to strive for excellence and to push further in advancing our cause. The event was a breathtaking gathering filled with insightful discussions among wonderful people in a beautiful setting. We heard from speakers, fellowshipped and, of course, looked towards DEAL FLOW with one another. What good are we if we can't help each other right? I am so EXCITED about next year's reunion and the Blck VCI conference in Washington, DC in 2025. If the organizers bring the #venturecapital expertise, TRUST--- I'll be there with crucial political and policy discussions that demand attention. I may even bring some federal politicians with me! Remember our power is within policy. Let's continue to engage. As I return to Atlanta to prepare for next week's historic DNC Convention in Chicago, where I proudly represent Georgia as a delegate, I carry with me the energy and commitment of our community.
