The Heart and Vascular Center at Yale New Haven Health joins in sharing the importance of today, Oct. 16, as World Restart a Heart Day. Annually, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital in the United States. Unfortunately, 90 percent of these are fatal. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), especially if performed immediately, could double or triple one’s chance of survival. To help increase the likelihood of people performing CPR in an emergency, the American Heart Association recommends Hands-Only CPR, which is just two simple steps: Step 1: Call 911. Step 2: Push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives. https://lnkd.in/eQtww88

The Michael Ness Memorial Foundation donated $11,700 to the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital. The donation comes from proceeds from the seventh annual Michael Ness Pay It Forward Golf Tournament, which was held in August this year. The Michael Ness Memorial Foundation honors Michael Ness, who passed away after injuries he sustained in a house fire in 2013. He was treated at the Burn Center. Over the years, the Foundation has donated around $100,000 to the Burn Center.
