? Black History Month holds profound significance for me as a Black woman working at The Bridge, where the majority of our population is Black. It serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history—many of whom faced and overcame immense adversity. This month is not just about honoring the past; it’s about recognizing the ongoing struggles and systemic challenges that our community continues to face. It inspires me to advocate for equity and justice, ensuring that the voices of those we serve are heard and valued. Recognizing Black History in this space means acknowledging the historical forces that have shaped housing insecurity, economic disparity, and health inequities. But it also means celebrating the culture, brilliance, and unwavering strength within our community. ?????? It’s a time to affirm the dignity and worth of every Black life, to inspire hope, and to continue the work of justice, equity, and healing—both within our shelter and beyond. ????? Dr. Woody shared, “What a blessing it was to be able to engage Doswell Foundation Board members Dr. Stephanie Woods and Mr. Stephen Roderick earlier today. The Doswell Foundation has committed $1 million dollars to the recovery-oriented work on The BridgeHomeless Recovery Center campus! The Doswell Foundation has been a faithful supporter of The Bridge for seven years. Resources committed today will powerfully assist The Bridge in meeting the increase in Guests seeking our suite of Day Shelter services offered on The Bridgecampus, and the increased number of Guests being offered Night Shelter. In addition, to have resources to enhance a focus on how The Bridge prepares The Bridge employees for implementing our trauma-informed approach to homeless recovery is an incredible investment in who The Bridge aspires to be. Thank you, Doswell Foundation, for your continued support, encouragement, and advocacy.” #DoswellFoundation #Dallas #EndHomelessness #BeTheChange

Breaking the Mold Dr. David Woody's comments during Dartmouth's "Breaking the Mold" conference highlighted the importance of pushing boundaries and pursuing innovative solutions to social challenges. This two-day event, hosted by the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact, brought alumni changemakers together with students to discuss how to navigate career crossroads, embrace uncertainty, and create meaningful impact in their fields. The conference also served as the inspiration for the All the Difference podcast, which extends these discussions to a broader audience. It aims to showcase diverse career paths of Dartmouth alumni who have made significant societal contributions, providing a roadmap for students and listeners to explore their own potential for change.

From Homelessness to Hope: Jerry Hayes' Journey Jerry Hayes spent over 15 years experiencing homelessness. He knows firsthand the struggles—the despair, the feeling of being invisible. But one day, Jerry made a life-changing decision. He walked through the doors of **The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center** and chose to give himself a second chance. At The Bridge, Jerry found a team of compassionate supporters who helped him build an exit strategy. With their guidance and his determination, Jerry transformed his life. Today, he has his own apartment, a car, and a new purpose as a "Peer Support Specialist." Known as one of the most beloved faces at The Bridge, “Everybody knows Jerry, and everybody loves Jerry!” He’s become a beacon of hope, inspiring others still experiencing homelessness to believe in the possibility of change. In Jerry’s own words: “Knowledge is power.” He motivates others to work hard, stay persistent, and take the steps needed to achieve independence. His journey reminds us all that, no matter the circumstances, anything is possible with courage, determination, and the right support. Watch Jerry’s story—it will move and inspire you. ?? https://lnkd.in/guKWygyX
