Women’s History Month Spotlight: Jane Addams ?? Jane Addams was a pioneer in social work and a tireless advocate for housing, education, and opportunity for those in need. As the founder of Hull House, she provided shelter, job training, and essential resources to immigrant families and those facing poverty in Chicago. She believed that everyone deserves a safe place to call home and the support to build a better future—values that inspire organizations like Bridge Communities today. At Bridge, we carry on this legacy by empowering families experiencing homelessness with housing, mentorship, and the tools they need to achieve lasting independence. Just as Jane Addams worked to break cycles of poverty, Bridge is committed to transforming lives through stable housing and strong community support. #WomensHistoryMonth #FairHousing #JaneAddams #Bridge Communities

Women’s History Month Spotlight: Shirley Chisholm ?? Shirley Chisholm made history as the first Black woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, but her legacy goes far beyond that. Chisholm started her career working at a nursery in New York City. By 1959, she became a consultant for the NYC Division of Day Care and became an authority on early education and child-welfare issues. In 1964, Chisholm was elected to the New York State Assembly, and after five years, she became the first Black woman elected to Congress, where she served for 14 years. In 1972, Shirley Chisholm made history once again as the first Black woman to seek nomination for President of the U.S from a major political party. Chisholm’s fight for fair access and opportunity still inspires us today. #WomensHistoryMonth #FairHousing #ShirleyChisholm #BridgeCommunities

Reliable transportation is a lifeline for families working toward self-sufficiency. Right now, client families in Bridge Communities’ Transitional Housing Program need a car to get to work, school, and child care. Without one, securing and keeping a job becomes a major challenge. If you have a car in working condition that you no longer need, consider donating it! Learn more or donate today: https://lnkd.in/gSg4_BCd #CarDonation #BridgeCommunities #DriveChange #DuPageCounty
