It took Stacey Tompkins, the president of Tompkins Excavating, 11 years to receive certification from New York State as a Minority and/or Women-led Business Enterprise (MWBE). Although the journey has been long and frustrating, Tompkins said she holds no grudges against New York State for the 11-year wait. She simply wants to share her story to motivate others not to give up when pursuing a dream. Peekskill Herald #womenownedbusiness #mwbecertified #mwbe

White House Presidential Appointee| Regional Administrator-United States Department of Housing and Urban Development- HUD
Huge thanks to the Building and Realty Institute of Westchester and the Mid-Hudson Region (BRI) for inviting me to speak at their annual membership meeting. BRI’s “Welcome Home Westchester” campaign goal is to help build much needed housing while advancing the 2025 legislative session. BRI challenges everyone to commit to taking specific actions to address the affordable housing shortage. I shared the mission of HUD and encouraged members to stay connected with HUD staff. We all have a role to play and the only way to increase and preserve the housing supply is to work together.
