Let's dive into the UI/UX design comparisons between two giants: Zoom and Google Meet. 1) Starting a Meeting Zoom: Simply click "New meeting" to start a meeting immediately. This one-click process is user-friendly and efficient. Google Meet: After clicking "New meeting," you need to choose whether to schedule a meeting or start one immediately. While this adds flexibility, it introduces an extra step that can slow down the process. 2) Camera and Microphone Controls Zoom: The on/off status of the camera and microphone is not very obvious, and the end meeting button is also not prominently displayed. Google Meet: When the camera/microphone is turned off, it turns red, making it easy to recognize. The end meeting button is very prominent and uses a hang-up icon, which aligns with common user habits. 3) Screen Sharing Zoom: All screen options are displayed on one page, making it more user-friendly as users typically rely on visual cues to select the screen they want to share. Slack is widely popular, let‘s try to learn some SaaS UI/UX design tips from it. 1) Progressive Disclosure In Slack, commonly used actions are displayed first, and users can click "more" to view the remaining actions. This design allows users to quickly find the most frequently used features, enhancing efficiency. In contrast, Discord doesn't show many actions when user hovers over a message, with most actions requiring a click to be seen. While this design keeps the interface clean, it might make it harder for users to discover available actions. 2) Floating Elements When dealing with complex interfaces, floating an element is a good choice. Slack uses floating elements to keep the interface tidy while hinting at the hierarchy of actions, such as viewing past messages. On the other hand, Discord adds a banner below the title bar, making the already crowded interface appear busier. 3) Restraint in Variation Slack is very restrained in using different font sizes, colors, and other visual elements, keeping the interface simple and clean. Discord, however, tends to freely add colors and font sizes (e.g., user names), which, despite having specific meanings, make the interface look cluttered. 4) Logical Placement When there are many actions, Slack places them in more logical locations for the user, maintaining a clean interface.
