Meet the newest addition to our Eastern bongo herd! A critically endangered Eastern bongo calf was born just last week. With fewer than 200 Eastern bongos left in their natural range, every new calf is an important step toward preserving this incredible species. More than 20 years ago, we introduced you to our incredible Expedition Africa experience - and now the adventure continues! On November 16, we’re opening the completed boardwalk loop to give you all new vistas of some of your favorite animals. Have you heard of a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle? This species is actually the smallest and most critically endangered sea turtle in the world! Our newest Sea Turtle Healing Center patient, Leia, is a Kemp’s ridley turtle who came in with a large abscess on the side of their head. ?? With the help of our friends at the Animal Specialty & Emergency Center of Brevard, its team captured high-quality images of this tiny turtle with a portable dental x-ray machine.
