?? Today is the 44th anniversary of Bremerton Foodline! ?? On this day in 1980, a coalition of churches started in a basement became a registered 501c3 non-profit organization. Their original vision was to develop an inclusive culture with the mission of providing Food Security for All. Since then, we have continued to expand on this idea and incorporating new one to further our growth. We've come a long way! Just this year we held our first Bridging the Gap Breakfast, started The FOOD Project, nearly completed a major capital construction project to expand our food bank, and are preparing for our first annual Bridge-to-Bridge Turkey Trot in November ?? We're so grateful for everyone that has been with us on our journey. ?? Gratitude Gathering ?? A few weeks ago, we hosted our first-ever Gratitude Gathering to honor the incredible hard work of our 250 volunteers who make everything we do possible! ?? Thanks to their tireless efforts, we’re able to feed over 600 families each week. Our volunteers truly are the heart of our mission, and this event was all about celebrating them! The Bremerton Foodline is excited to announce that we have been awarded a $50,000 grant from T-Mobile as part of a national initiative to support community development. Out of 853 applications submitted across the country, Bremerton stood out, and we are thrilled to see our vision come to life! This grant will enable us to revive and enhance the community garden that will encircle our building, fostering a vibrant space for our community to come together. The garden will not only serve as a source of fresh produce but will also be a gathering place for workshops, events, and educational programs on nutrition and sustainability. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to several key partners who made this possible, including Mayor Greg Wheeler, the City Council members Anna Mockler and Jane Rebelowski, Kitsap Public Health District, Kitsap Bank, Bremerton Backpack Brigade, Urban Gnomestead and photographer Isaak Hammers. Their support and collaboration have been instrumental in securing this grant and bringing our project to fruition. As we embark on this exciting journey, we are deeply thankful for the strong support network we have within our community.
