Although Breast Cancer Awareness Month ended last month, the need for self-advocacy around your breast health continues year-round! Congratulations to our longtime community partner, Nueva Vida, on their 25th anniversary! We are deeply grateful for their partnership, which has helped provide thousands of women with Lyft rides, when transportation was a barrier to their care. As we closed out Breast Cancer Awareness Month last week, it’s important to face a stark reality. For millions of women, cost continues to be a significant barrier to potentially lifesaving breast cancer care. Last month Brem Foundation to Defeat Breast Cancer and No Patient Left Behind released a survey showing cost as an obstacle for women across the country as they seek to protect their breast health. Despite broad insurance coverage, steep out-of-pocket costs deter women from receiving life-saving diagnostics and treatment for breast cancer. One thing is clear - the current reality is unacceptable: women are skipping lifesaving breast cancer screenings and treatments due to high costs, risking decades of progress. We can and must commit to doing better for patients.
