This is a different kind of Generosity Spotlight. This is the story of how a young entrepreneur focused on philanthropy and the power of nature to support and bring the community together. Limber Grove?is a Breckenridge business with heart, blending nature and community to serve both locals and tourists. Founded by Mason Mitchell, it provides a platform for him and other locals to share their creative products and build connections. The business’s mission is to embody the spirit of the community and serve as a positive force within it. Over the past seven years, Limber Grove has donated $39,250 to the BOEC, offering substantial support to the Heroic Military Program. In 2023, they became a monthly donor ensuring sustained support throughout the year. The BOEC Heroic Military Program provides accessible, outdoor adventures for veterans recovering from service-related injuries, as well as for their families. Growing up and going to college on the Colorado Front Range, Mason saw the daily grind of life that sometimes takes over. He wanted something different for his own life. After Mason graduated from college, he went in search of a new lifestyle. In 2012, this took him to the mountains of Colorado where he lived in his car with his dog spending much of this time enjoying the outdoors. This was a crucial time for Mason and inspired his dream for Limber Grove. He eventually landed in Alma, a small, remote town at the top of Hoosier Pass, and began commuting to Breckenridge for work; this lasted for eight years. In recognition of Veteran’s Day, we are excited to feature?Nick Fuller, BOEC volunteer and US Army veteran. Growing up in Iowa, Nick Fuller found joy in the winters, especially when they involved skiing adventures. He fondly remembers skiing on little plastic skis?behind a snowmobile, which almost always ended up in a major crash.?He learned to ski at the Galena Ski Resort in Galena, Illinois when he was about 11 years old. Recalling that time in his young life, he explains, “My older sister would let us tag along with her friends.?Like expected for a 21 year old, she would leave me to myself, and I would have a lot of fun!?The equipment was pretty bad, it was when skis had a metal plate on the bottom of the boot that clicked into the binding.?A strap wrapped around your leg, and that was it.” #volunteerspotlight #volunteer #veteransday #adaptivesports #BOECadaptive https://lnkd.in/giBEBzDC

We are each shaped by a collection of experiences throughout life. From the influences of skiing to public service, to volunteering while traveling to his career as an attorney, Michael Carrigan has found a good fit on the BOEC Board of Directors, combining many of his interests in one role. Michael is a Colorado native with deep roots in Summit County, who has been visiting its slopes, trails and lakes since the 1970s. He reflects, “I am the youngest of six kids and I’ll be eternally grateful that my father taught us all to ski, back when family skiing was more affordable.” We are so thankful to have the experience and expertise that Michael brings to the board. We are excited to introduce our new Marketing and Events Coordinator, Taylor Borst! Taylor hails from beautiful Morrison, Colorado and has a rich background in the ski industry, having worked at several Colorado ski resorts while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Communication at the University of Colorado Boulder. Following her graduation, Taylor made the transition to Summit County and became an integral part of the marketing team at Arapahoe Basin. Her love for snowboarding, backpacking, and travel has taken her to various corners of the globe, including Florence, Italy, Sydney, Australia, and Bangkok, Thailand.?She has always believed in the healing and therapeutic advantages of recreation and is eager to contribute to BOEC and the community. #newhire #boecadaptive #eventscoordinator #employeespotlight

Our summer in the Rocky Mountains may be short, but we enjoy it to the fullest whether on the rivers, the bike paths, or on the ropes course! This is how one participant described their experience this summer at a BOEC led Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado retreat, “I’m utterly amazed of the adaptations that the BOEC offers to the campers to participate in every activity.
