Canadian tennis star ?? Gaby Dabrowski's recent revelation about her breast cancer diagnosis underscores the critical importance of early detection. After discovering a lump in her breast during a self-exam in 2023, her concerns were initially dismissed by a doctor. It wasn't until a year later, during a routine Women's Tennis Association physical, that the lump was identified as cancerous. Despite her diagnosis and treatment, Dabrowski achieved remarkable success, including competing at the highest level, winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. ?? ???? Her experience highlights the necessity of self-advocacy and regular screenings in the fight against breast cancer. Remember, early-stage breast cancer has a 99% survival rate. Join BCA in raising awareness and expanding access to early screening—because early detection saves lives!! ???? #BreastCancerAwareness #earlydetectionsaveslives #yourfightisourfight #breastcancerscreening #breastcancer #gabydabrowski #breastcanceralliance

Breast Cancer is Rising in Younger Women. ? Recent research from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine reveals a steady increase in breast cancer diagnoses among women under 50 over the past two decades, with sharper rises in recent years. While overall cancer rates are stabilizing or declining, breast cancer remains one of the few cancers on the rise in younger women. ? Key findings from the study: Breast cancer rates have increased by 0.6% annually in younger women over the past few decades. More aggressive subtypes are rising at an even higher rate. Early awareness, self-advocacy, and access to screenings are more important than ever. ? Why is this happening? Researchers point to lifestyle changes, environmental exposures, and genetic factors as potential contributors. With routine mammograms not typically recommended before 40, younger women are more likely to be diagnosed at later stages.?? ? Breast cancer isn’t just a disease that affects women later in life—it can impact women at a much younger age. ? ?? Know your risk, listen to your body, and advocate for your health.?Learn your family history and talk to your doctor about personal risk factors.

Beloved journalist, TV host, and author?Hoda Kotb?has long been a source of joy and inspiration for millions. But behind her radiant smile is a story of resilience. At just 43, she was diagnosed with breast cancer—an experience that not only tested her strength but profoundly reshaped her life. In her exclusive?PEOPLE Magazine | PEOPLE.com?interview, Hoda reflects on how cancer shifted her priorities, deepened her gratitude, and helped her embrace life with even greater purpose. She has used her platform to spread hope, raise awareness, and empower others facing this disease. “When it comes to breast cancer, it’s sort of like—get it early, get it out, and try not to be defined by it,” Hoda shared with People. “It can shape you, but if it defines you, then you will spend your life feeling a certain way. So, it’s about understanding that this is part of me, but not all of me. It’s going to change me, and I’ll be different now. But what you’ll find is that you’re braver, you’re more resilient.” At BCA, we are committed to funding cutting-edge breast cancer research and are the ONLY organization providing funding for surgeons to pursue breast oncology fellowships—helping to train the next generation of surgeons in breast cancer care. March 3rd is Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day?. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, accounting for approximately 15% of all invasive breast cancer cases. Unlike other types, TNBC cells lack receptors for estrogen, progesterone, and HER2, which makes traditional hormonal therapies ineffective. Key Facts about TNBC: -TNBC represents about 15% of all invasive breast cancer cases.? -This cancer subtype is more likely to affect women under 40, individuals with BRCA1 mutations, and Black or Hispanic women.? - Due to the absence of targeted receptors, chemotherapy remains the primary treatment option. However, ongoing research is exploring new therapies, including immunotherapy and targeted treatments.??? At BCA, we are dedicated to funding cutting-edge research aimed at developing more effective therapies and ultimately finding a cure for TNBC. Our research grants empower top-tier medical institutions and promising researchers to explore: - New treatment approaches,? - Genetic studies? - Clinical trials?? - Translational research Your support fuels this progress. Former Bachelorette star Katie Thurston, 34, recently announced her diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma, a common form of breast cancer. She discovered a small, painful lump in her breast, initially attributing it to menstrual changes or muscle soreness. Despite common misconceptions that breast cancer is typically painless, her persistent discomfort led her to seek medical advice, resulting in the diagnosis. Thurston has expressed a range of emotions, from despair and anger to strength and readiness to fight the disease. Her treatment plan includes chemotherapy, surgery, and consultations with fertility specialists, as certain cancer treatments can impact fertility. She aims to preserve her ability to have biological children in the future. In a recent update, Thurston shared positive news: her cancer has not metastasized, which improves her prognosis. She continues to approach her journey with optimism and determination, drawing strength from the support of her fiancé, Jeff Arcuri, and her followers. Source: People Magazine | ABC News Thurston's experience underscores the importance of early detection and paying attention to bodily changes, even those that may seem minor or atypical.
