Meet T1D Warrior Jonathan Maino! Jonathan was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in March of 2022. This year, Jonathan attended his 1st Breakthrough T1D Walk in Long Island and raised $2,580 with his family and friends. He also hosted a lemonade stand with his sister to fundraise for his Walk Team and raised a total of $250. In honor of Diabetes Awareness Month, Jonathan encouraged his ENTIRE school district to wear blue for November 14, #worlddiabetesday! He also led the school announcement that very day to encourage his peers to celebrate with him. Thank you to Jonathan and the Maino Family for your unwavering support and dedication ??

  • Meet Taylor Rosenking, a teacher, CycleBar instructor, and T1D Champion. She has been living with type 1 diabetes for 21 years, and her resilience and positivity is an inspiration to all. Living with T1D has shaped who she is today, fueling her passion for biology, and deepening her connection with her students and others that share life with T1D. She also combines her passion for cycling with raising awareness and funds for advancements in T1D research and treatments, and driving cures. Taylor, alongside Eric Tiedemann, hosted a Charity Ride for Breakthrough T1D on November 16 in honor of Diabetes Awareness Month. Eric is also a fellow T1D champion, who was diagnosed with T1D at 9 years old. This is the 2nd ride @cyclebargardencity hosted in support of Breakthrough T1D, and they raised $7,909! Taylor's favorite quote is "progress, not perfection- one day at a time." She wants to share this message with the T1D community as a reminder that T1D management is not perfect and it's about making progress every day. "Focusing on small steps and taking it one day at a time helps reduce the pressure and reminds us that progress, no matter how big or small, is what really matters, in the long run." --- If you would like to start a fundraiser Your Way for T1D research, feel free to visit https://lnkd.in/ehHpyMyG... and reach out to Jill Waller at [email protected] #forwardas1 #forwardfort1d #WorldDiabetesDay

  • Meet Amy Pal, a fellow T1D mom and founder of Whip Salon. It's incredibly important to Amy and her family to support Breakthrough T1D and its mission to advance breakthroughs, and to improve and change life with T1D. Amy joined our community of fundraisers 3 years ago in honor of her son Thor. For the past 3 years, Whip Salon dedicated one of their "Hair Raiser" days to support Breakthrough T1D on November 14, World Diabetes Day. Alongside her fundraiser, Amy is also very active in the T1D moms community in Ridgefield, CT. Amy and the other T1D moms share a group chat, organize meet-ups, and are always uplifting and supporting one another. "Each one of us has children with Type 1 and it's so helpful to have someone that understands what you're navigating and can offer tips, ideas and advice from firsthand experience," says Amy. Thank you to Amy and our community members for raising awareness, their continued support, and moving our mission forward to drive cures. • Past Children's Congress Delegates traveled to Washington D.C. and advocated for critical Federal funding for T1D research and policies that promote affordability, choice, and coverage on Capitol Hill. Now they reflect on their once-in-a-lifetime experience engaging in leadership and character-building programming and meeting Federal decision makers. There is still time to apply for the Breakthrough T1D 2025 Children's Congress application, closing on November 24. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gUUAHp4P
