Alex was referred to Breakthrough by a local shelter while searching for housing. As he opened up, it became clear he needed mental health support due to past trauma, including being tra?cked as a child. Breakthrough provided him with therapy, psychiatric care, and safety measures. Over two months, Alex gained confidence, participated more in group activities, and began preparing for independent living. With Breakthrough’s help, he became a legal citizen, secured housing, and is on his way to pursue a career in carpentry. Grateful for the support, Alex credits Breakthrough with helping him see his potential and build a brighter future. Alex shares, “One of the brightest moments for me was a welcome home basket given to me by Breakthrough. I couldn’t have come this far without these people. They saw something in me I didn’t see before.” Give hope to someone like Alex, who is overcoming trauma and homelessness. Your gift provides the mental health support needed to build resilience and find safety. Kelly arrived at the Turning Point housing program struggling with mental health challenges, unemployment, and a lack of identification. Through volunteer work and open conversations with the sta?, he built trust, developed communication skills, and addressed key barriers like untreated mental health and substance abuse. A mental health assessment helped Kelly create a clear plan for independence, and he remains focused on seeking support. Simply finding an apartment is not enough to end the cycle of chronic homelessness; our program builds bonds that break through multiple barriers and leads to long-term housing success. Support someone like Kelly on his journey from surviving to thriving. With access to therapy and housing, he’s rebuilding his life. Give hope today! https://lnkd.in/gK7QEcGm #BreakthroughWichita #MentalIllnessWichita #FromSurvivingToThriving
