Breakthrough is grateful to for the support of Northern Trust in partnership with the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. Together, we are working to increase food access and improve the health and wellbeing of residents in Garfield Park.

I am grateful to represent the scaling of community violence intervention work that Breakthrough is leading in Garfield Park. Thank you to Chicago CRED, GIFFORDS, and GPAC for hosting an incredible panel that highlighted the best practices and strategies coming out of Chicago.

Girls in the GODDESS Mentoring Inc. Business Summer Camp at Breakthrough, girls ages 8-15 have been learning the skills of entrepreneurship. The young entrepreneurs showcased their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit at their first lemonade stand at HomeCourt+ last week. Way to go!

Volunteering at the annual Breakthrough Trunk Party was truly incredible! Ensuring 80 students from the East Garfield Park community have all they need for college is so rewarding. Celebrating and sharing words of encouragement with each student was an awesome experience. Giving back with my son Brandon Robinson by my side made it even more special. #collegebound #makinganimpact #onlyup

At the #TrunkParty on Saturday, we celebrated 80 local students headed off to college alongside their families and friends. Students picked out all the items they need to live on campus, such as linens, toiletries, and school supplies. Thank you to the generous donors who helped us throw the party! As students begin their college journeys, we hope these items are a tangible reminder of the love and support of their community.
