A global framework to close the 'collaboration gap' and accelerate the shift to clean tech and sustainable solutions.

关于我们

The Breakthrough Agenda provides a global collaborative framework to enhance international climate collaboration, encourage join up and reduce duplication in the existing landscape of international sectoral initiatives. The Breakthrough Agenda was launched at COP26 to help the world close the “collaboration gap” and accelerate international action on climate change to meet the Paris Agreement’s global net zero targets. It convenes initiatives and countries to strengthen international collaboration to make clean technologies and sustainable solutions the most affordable, accessible and attractive option in key sectors and in all regions by 2030. Since its launch, the Breakthrough Agenda has established an internationally-recognised, annual, COP- centred, collaborative process – backed by 59 countries covering over 80% of global GDP, and more than 150 international initiatives – that enhances global cooperation in seven major emitting sectors: power, road transport, steel, hydrogen, agriculture, buildings, and cement and concrete, covering over 60% of global emissions.

The story continues… With the launch of the 2024 Battery Passport pilots today, the Global Battery Alliance takes a major step toward achieving its vision of a #circular, #responsible and #just battery value chain by 2030. Coordinated by the GBA, leading battery cell manufacturers representing over 80% of global electric vehicle battery market share have just completed the world’s largest pre-competitive effort to bring transparency to battery value chains. The story so far… The 2024 pilots significantly expand on the first proof of concept pilots released in 2023. Ten consortia mobilised their supply chains from mining companies to refiners, manufacturers and recyclers to participate in the pilots, with support from seven independent track & trace solution providers. The pilot value chains span all five continents and seven minerals used in different battery types. They gathered 200+ sustainability reports based on seven pilot rulebooks: Greenhouse Gas emissions; Environmental and Human Rights Due Diligence; Forced Labour; Child Labour; Biodiversity; Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Circular Design. The road ahead… These pilots chart the way forward for the GBA and its partners toward issuing the GBA Battery Passport as a product level sustainability certification. In the future, the GBA Battery Passport will yield comparable, trusted data across 20+ environmental, social and governance categories for supply chain due diligence, investment, procurement and purchasing decisions, and stakeholder engagement. Explore the results hot off the press on the GBA website: https://lnkd.in/gVaPHE3t And read the press release: https://lnkd.in/gdEDZMhH
