The Program consists of young leaders with T1D who represent Breakthrough T1D in their communities, engage their peers, strengthen Breakthrough T1D’s mission, and encourage participation in Breakthrough T1D Wisconsin programs and events. In addition, she is strong in academics and is taking a full-time college course load as a Junior in high school. Meet, Charles & Mabel! They are today's featured #breakthrought1dchampions ? Here is what Charles had to say about what drives him forward: "I had three T1D classmates in my small rural Wisconsin high school. Two died of complications before age 30. Based on this experience, when our daughter Mabel was diagnosed with T1D at age two, I thought her prospects were grim. The constant drive to fund T1D research, led by JDRF, has resulted in amazing advances in technology that were unimaginable a generation ago and radically changed the outlook for all those with T1D. Today I believe the ultimate goal — discovering a cure for Type 1 diabetes —is we keep pushing and funding the research."
