New series! Billion Dollar Arcade merges the humble beginnings of video games with their current multi-billion-dollar status. The playable pieces, including Pong, Breakout, and Space Invaders, are controlled through tracking your body movements. The difficulty of each game adjusts based on the real-time valuation of the video game industry, determined using real-time stock prices. In my “Gusts” series, I envision these pieces as dynamic weathervanes, capturing the essence of global climates through real-time wind data from a city of the collector’s choosing. Each sculpture is a living entity, responding to the invisible movements of the wind. When approached, the piece reacts to you, symbolizing how our actions leave an imprint on the environment, much like the lasting impact we have on the climate.
