For half a century, Bread for the World has mobilized people of faith to end hunger through policy change. ?? 1970s: First Offering of Letters → Congress affirms the right to food. ?? 1980s: Expanded WIC & school meals → Today, nearly half of U.S. infants benefit from WIC. ?? 1990s: Africa: Seeds of Hope Act → Strengthened agricultural investments for food security. ?? 2000s: Global debt relief → 36 countries saw a 90% reduction in debt, expanding access to education and food. ?? 2010s: Circle of Protection → Prevented deep cuts to anti-hunger programs. ?? 2020s: COVID relief → Child poverty cut nearly in half due to pandemic assistance. As we celebrate this milestone, we look ahead to Nourish Our Future, our next initiative to tackle childhood hunger worldwide. ?? At the table of repentance, we are reminded that true transformation requires patience, humility, and a willingness to be changed. Jesus calls us to let go of certainty, soften our hearts, and trust in God's timing—even when the fruit of justice feels distant. In this season of Lent, we reflect on where we need to change, both as individuals and as a community working toward ending hunger. ?? "We can be both about America first and also support foreign aid." At last week's Prayer Vigil for Foreign Aid, Bread for the World President & CEO Eugene Cho reminded us that caring for our neighbors—both at home and abroad—is not a contradiction, but a reflection of our shared values. Supporting foreign aid is not just about generosity; it’s about global stability, economic security, and upholding our moral responsibility. Let's continue to advocate for policies that protect the most vulnerable, wherever they may be. #ForeignAid #FaithInAction #EndHunger #AdvocacyMatters

?? Racial discrimination impacts access to food, opportunity, and dignity. On this International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD), we reflect on the systemic injustices that fuel hunger and inequality. Bread for the World remains committed to addressing racial disparities in food security through policy change and advocacy. Today, we share a prayer by Rev. Nancy Neal, Minister for Spiritual Formation and Wellness, as we seek a world rooted in equity and justice. #FaithInAction #EliminateRacism #EndHunger #BreadForTheWorld

Cuts to foreign aid aren't just a policy problem, they strike at the core of our values. Critical aid that supports tens of millions of the world's most vulnerable people is at risk. This is a moral issue and America's security, generosity, and global leadership are threatened. Join Bread for the World in urging the administration and Congress to restore foreign aid. $500 million in American-produced food is currently at risk ??. America’s farmers are essential to global food security ??. Their productivity feeds people across the globe and supports communities experiencing famine and conflict. Reducing foreign aid not only impacts the lives of the world’s most vulnerable but also jeopardizes the livelihoods of American farmers. Bread for the World advocates for policies that support both. We urge you to join us in calling on the administration and Congress to restore vital programs that sustain farmer livelihoods and combat hunger. #SupportFarmers #GlobalHunger #ForeignAid #BreadForTheWorld #PolicyChange #EndHunger

"When aid is cut, it’s not just numbers on a page—it’s real lives lost." At last week’s Prayer Vigil for Foreign Aid, Carol Bremer-Bennett, Executive Director of World Renew, reflected on Isaiah 58:5-8, reminding us that true worship is lived out through justice, mercy, and care for the most vulnerable. Let us continue to pray and advocate for those whose voices go unheard—for the mothers who go without so their children might eat. We urge our leaders to protect life-saving aid and stand with those in need.
