Bob Powers, director of government relations at Bread for the World gave closing remarks at a tribute reception honoring Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow. As a bipartisan organization, Bread is thankful for her leadership on the Senate Agriculture Committee and her commitment to working across the aisle to protect and strengthen domestic and international food aid programs including SNAP, Food for Peace, and the McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program. Chairwoman Stabenow’s efforts have improved the lives of hundreds of millions of people in the U.S. and around the world experiencing hunger.

At Bread for the World, we’re embracing “Seeking Peace” this Advent season. As a Christian advocacy community, we’re reminded of the peace and joy that Emmanuel — “God with us” — brings into our lives. Each week, you’ll find reflections from spiritual leaders such as Lisa Sharon Harper Eddie Kaufholz Kimberly Mazyck and Rev. Fr. Nicholas Anton, each calling us to approach peace in a unique way. Let’s journey together. Download Bread for the World’s Advent devotional and find strength and inspiration in these weekly reflections, prayers, and practices: https://lnkd.in/et8eZgy2 #Advent #BreadfortheWorld #Devotional #SeekingPeace #EndHunger

Several Bread for the World staff members participated in COP29, engaging in vital discussions on climate and food systems: - Eugene Cho participated in a fireside chat at the Faith Pavilion, highlighting the role of faith communities in elevating climate finance to combat hunger. - Abiola Afolayan and Isabel Vander Molen presented at an Action on Food event, discussing the integration of biodiversity into food policies for better climate resilience and nutrition. - Eugene and Isabel also joined a panel by the Green Generation Initiative, unpacking key negotiation outcomes and inspiring cross-generational collaboration. As we reflect on these discussions, Bread for the World remains dedicated to advocating for sustainable food systems and climate justice, working towards a future where everyone has access to nutritious food. #COP29

Meet Caroline, a graduate student at Youngstown State University! ?? Where is home for you? New Castle, Pennsylvania What's a fun fact about yourself? I’ve lived in three countries: Estonia, Hungary, and the United States. What sparked your interest in Bread for the World? It had the best of both worlds for me: contributing to work that advocates for vulnerable people while gaining experience with a wonderful team. What is the most important lesson you’ve learned during your internship? Say yes to trying new things. Learn from the brilliant people around you. It’s important to try things outside of our comfort zone because that is where we grow. We are grateful for Caroline's contribution to Bread's mission this fall and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her!

Last week, Bread for the World’s Rev. Heather Taylor and Dr. Christine Sequenzia joined civil society leaders and government officials in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the G20 Summit. The G20 Summit is the main forum for international economic cooperation. It plays an important role in defining and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues. Ahead of G20, Bread for the World submitted two proposals as part of the G20 Social Summit; one calling on world leaders to support the new Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty and the other emphasizing the important role the World Bank and other finance institutions play in addressing hunger. We look forward to ensuring hunger remains a key priority as the G20 Summit host government transitions from Brazil to South Africa in 2025. #G20Summit #G20

During National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, we reflect on our commitment to improve food security and housing stability. Rev. Nancy Neal, our Minister for Spiritual Formation and Wellness, has crafted a prayer that inspires reflection and encourages us to take tangible steps toward helping those in need. We invite all our supporters and partners to join in this prayer as we work toward ensuring that everyone has access to the basic necessities of life. Let's unite in purpose and compassion. #HungerAwareness #HomelessnessAwareness #CommunitySupport #BreadForTheWorld
