Circular Process: Every part of the sugarcane is utilized, ensuring nothing goes to waste. Carbon Consumption: Instead of generating carbon emissions, the process actually consumes carbon. Energy Production: As a bonus, the process produces renewable energy! ?
Bio-based plastics are an essential solution to help us reach a net zero circular economy. But not a lot of people know enough about them. So, each week we'll be tackling the complex questions that come with the topic. Stay tuned as we dispel the myths of bio-based plastics! How do we produce the ethanol used for the development of plastics? Sugarcane ethanol is produced alongside sugar for the food sector, and modern mills are energy self-sufficient, powering their processes by burning the left-over sugarcane fibers. We were honored to join the panel on “Achieving Recyclability: Advances in Technology for True Circularity,” led by Efrat Friedland from materialscout. The discussion highlighted innovations in recycling, challenges in the petrochemical industry, and opportunities to develop advanced polymers.
