www.tinyurl.com/GiveBis Today at noon to tomorrow at noon marks Giving Day 2024! Please consider donating today to transform tomorrow for survivors of brain injury!
-
It's a great time to donate today to transform tomorrow at www.tinyurl.com/givbis Here is a wonderful example of what you will be supporting: One of our case management participants was having a hard time staying in her basic bean bag chair and sliding out in the floor. She also couldn't sit up in it and was more laid over. Our case manager was able to help find and pay for an accessible bean bag chair! This one has a seat and seat belt feature so our participant is able to sit up and be strapped in for safety. It's also nice for mom because she can leave the room to do other things and not worry about her daughter being in the floor. It may seem like a small thing though does make a huge difference for our participant and her family!

Have you ever wanted to use the Internet to access free telehealth services, but didn't have coverage? Spotty or no internet access has been an ongoing challenge for brain injury survivors in our agency's rural service areas. This spring, BIS CLiC partnered with Roanoke College students to research solutions! The Roanoke College group, comprised of Grayce Dantzler, Kiersten Gower, Madison Walton, Kathryn Duddy, and Lillian Proctor, analyzed gaps in broadband coverage in BIS service areas. These undergraduates researched several potential innovations, worked with BIS CLiC to craft a viable solution, and presented details as a project defense on April 27th at Roanoke College. Using this information, BIS CLiC administration plans to pursue grants to acquire and pilot Starlink Internet access as an effort to bring free BIS CLiC telehealth services to more BIS consumers! BIS CLiC telehealth seeks to provide recreational, online brain injury interventions across Virginia to improve cognition, long-term wellness, social connections, and community integration in brain injury survivors. BIS CLiC also provides support for caregivers! For more information about our no-cost CLiC programs, please email [email protected]

#ThankfuThursday We are extremely thankful to everyone who supported Winter Wishes as over $3,400 was raised to help provide 56 gifts to survivors of brain injury in need! Gifts included household items for a newly housed pregnant survivor who has very little in her new apartment, a practice drum set, compression socks for a consumer who often misses appointments due to swelling in their legs, a journal/pen set, a tablet to participate in CLiC, our online support group, and other cognitive training. Pictured are just a few of the many happy recipients.
