It’s not always easy to know when your child may need more than typical classroom support. If your child is consistently struggling, it might be time to explore whether they need an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or a 504 plan. Here are some signs that your child might benefit from additional accommodations: Ongoing Academic Struggles: Despite your best efforts and the teacher’s support, your child is still falling behind in key subjects. Behavioral Challenges: If your child consistently has difficulty with focus, organization, or emotional regulation, it may be affecting their ability to learn. Frustration and Burnout: If homework consistently leads to frustration or meltdowns, it may signal a need for extra support. Teacher Recommendations: If your child’s teacher suggests more in-depth testing or evaluation, it could be time to explore your options. It’s important to have an open conversation with your child’s teacher and, if needed, request an evaluation to see if a formal IEP or 504 plan is right for your child.???? Tutoring can be a great tool, but sometimes, it just isn’t enough. If your child has tried tutoring and still struggles to keep up, it might be time to consider a different approach. The root cause of their academic or behavioral challenges could be more about brain development than a need for more instruction. Here’s how to know when tutoring might not be the answer: Little Progress: Despite ongoing tutoring, your child continues to struggle in the same areas or needs frequent reteaching. Behavioral Challenges: If your child struggles with focus, attention, or emotional regulation, tutoring alone may not be enough to address these underlying issues. Frustration and Burnout: If tutoring sessions leave your child feeling frustrated, unmotivated, or overwhelmed, it might be time to try something different. If tutoring isn’t working, it might be time to consider a new approach. Reach out to us today to learn how Brain Balance can help strengthen the important brain connections needed to retain academic information! ????

Environmental influences like prenatal exposure to smoking, alcohol, or toxins like lead can also raise ADHD risk, as can traumatic experiences or early life stress. ?? While the causes may vary, the good news is the brain can change! With the right support, ADHD challenges can be managed, improving learning, social skills, and self-confidence.
