For the second time this year, General Fusion has been awarded funding for the development of their cutting edge technology from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). General Fusion and Simon Fraser University will partner to optimize a new diagnostic method for the company’s LM26 program. The new NSERC grant will help provide critical data to measure and verify the LM26 program’s key technical milestones. Funding for General Fusion's LM26 program has reached CA$71 million since its launch in 2023, a major vote of confidence for the company. General Fusion’s LM26 program is designed to achieve transformational milestones for commercialization: #fusion conditions of over 100 million degrees Celsius by 2025 and scientific breakeven equivalent by 2026. The company is on track to provide energy to the grid by the early to mid-2030s. Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology organization, and the Business Development Bank of Canada BDC investment arm, BDC Capital Management, Inc. together provided CA$20 million investment in August. General Fusion is breaking new ground to move even faster on developing #fusionenergy.
