Bracket is thrilled to announce that we will be the new home of Addie Zierman's remarkable memoir When We Were on Fire: A Memoir of Consuming Faith, Tangled Love, and Starting Over. The new edition will be available early next year. In the us-versus-them world of ’90s Christian subculture, Addie was an evangelical poster child—so “on fire for God” that she didn’t notice her faith dwindling until it burned out completely. With candor and transparency, she chronicles her journey through church culture, first love, and her unprepared and angry entrance into marriage. This is a funny, heartbreaking story about untangling oneself from cliché in search of a faith worth embracing—a story for anyone who has ever felt alone in a crowded church, for the cynic, the doubter, and the former Jesus freak. Addie Zierman is the author of When We Were on Fire and Night Driving. She holds an MFA from Hamline University and lives in Minnesota with her husband and sons.
