Great time facilitating the discussion with women leading in pharma!
The Texas BioLife Summit continued on this afternoon with increasing energy and excitement for what lies ahead in the world of life sciences! ? The Devices and Diagnostics panel welcomed us back with an intriguing conversation moderated by Yana Volman (ADVI Health). Medical technology leaders Josh Rabinowitz (Articulate Labs), Brandi Cantarel (Form Bio), Daniel Andrews (Reapplix), and Melissa Bourestom (Dignitana) took us through the realistic up's and down's of developing cutting-edge medical technology in today's world. Safely and effectively navigating technology integration, staying at the forefront of future trends, and balancing this with rigorous FDA requirements were highlighted. ? Guided by Cristin Dickerson MD, (Green Imaging), the Next Generation Life Science Leaders panel consisted of Sandra Saldana, PhD, MBA (Alva Health Inc.) and Anup Patel (Obsidian Therapeutics). Their discussion blended together insights from the worlds of therapeutics, medtech, and healthcare. Fields seemingly so different from the outside found common ground in a very important aspect - innovation with the patient at the forefront. ? Robert Suffoletta (Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati) lead us into our next discussion on Navigating the Life Science Investment Landscape. Aaron Schuchart (?ther THERAPEUTICS), Russell Hayward (etiraRx), Patrick Smale (ClearSight Therapeutics) and Kevin Oliver (Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc.) shared their strategies for fundraising on a timeline, while also highlighting alternative financing mechanisms, such as partnerships, collaborations, or licensing agreements. They explored key factors to consider when pitching to investors, and how that can translate to working with big pharma. ? One of the most highly anticipated panels of the day, Leading Women in Biotech, brought together a group of powerful and influential women for a discussion moderated by Pam Nelson, MSN, PhD (Bracane Company, Inc.). Kaitlin Roberson (Cacti), Brandie Jonas (Geron Corporation) and Elina Lavit (Veltera) came together to represent a strong community of life science leaders, speaking on topics critical to standing out in the industry: embracing key leadership qualities, decision-making skills, and overcoming challenges/setbacks. This panel was nothing short of inspirational, and sent us off on an impactful note! ? We loved seeing the life sciences community in Dallas come together to share experiences, strategies, and advice, and build up their community while making new connections! Until next year, Texas!?

A Shared Celebration and a Moment of Connection Today, I discovered something fascinating—Avery Brooks, the celebrated actor known for his roles in Spenser: For Hire and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and a longtime professor, shares my birthday: October 2nd! Well, I guess I share his birthday because he is older. However; this revelation got me thinking about how something as simple as a shared birthday can serve as a unique bridge between people. Did you know that shared birthdays can create a sense of community and spark unexpected conversations? It’s a reminder of how interconnected we all are, even in ways we may not realize. Whether it’s a shared date, an unknown fact, or a unique experience, these little connections hold the power to inspire collaboration and deeper understanding. As we celebrate the everyday moments that unite us, I’d love to know: - Have you ever discovered an interesting connection, like a shared birthday, from the same city or hobby, that led to something meaningful? - What’s one little-known fact about you that could spark a surprising connection? Let’s keep building bridges, one discovery at a time! #Networking #SharedConnections #Birthdays #LinkedInCommunity #Inspiration
