In partnership with Airoom Architects, Builders, and Remodelers, recently broke ground on the Foglia Family Boys Hope Girls Hope of Illinois Campus in Evanston -- beginning with renovations of the first home we purchased in 1980! This house will be the first to be renovated as we create a four-house campus all on one block; add eight more young women to our program; improve our homes to better serve Scholars and staff; and, create a stronger, more cohesive community. Larry generously shared an evening last week to carve pumpkins with our Scholars and make sure they were ready to celebrate Halloween. But his influence exceeds pumpkin carving! About Larry: Larry Phillips, alum of Boys Hope Girls Hope of Illinois, knows firsthand how powerful support and opportunity can be. As a Boys Hope Girls Hope scholar, he found more than just academic guidance—he found stability, mentors who believed in him, and the tools to succeed despite the challenges he faced growing up. With Boys Hope Girls Hope supporting him and his family, Larry excelled academically, earned his degree, and built a meaningful career. Today, he serves as the Vice President of Diversity and Community at Gallagher, using his platform to foster inclusion and opportunity for others. But for Larry, success isn’t just about titles—it’s about making an impact. He’s committed to mentoring young people, offering the same encouragement and guidance that shaped his life. Through his work, he’s helped scholars overcome obstacles, discover their potential, and pursue their own dreams. Larry's story is a powerful reminder of how a little hope can create a ripple effect across communities.
