At Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, we're helping our members find their way, both figuratively and literally! This week members from our Southwest Club went on not one but TWO scavenger hunts! For #worldchildrensday on Wednesday teens in the Keystone Club created a scavenger hunt for their fellow members in the Club. It was good practice for a real challenge - a scavenger hunt in the woods at WINDING TRAILS, INC! Navigating and choosing insurance can be difficult for anyone, which is why we're so grateful to have partners like The Hartford! They just wrapped up a four week #insurance101 program with our middle and high school members. They learned everything from why we need insurance, to what happens if you have a claim and even the careers they could have in the insurance industry. November is aviation history month! It’s a chance to learn about the amazing people who have influenced aviation and helped us take to the sky! So, we turned to a few of the aviation experts at Pratt & Whitney and RTX! After a busy day of building jet engines, they stopped by our Asylum Hill Club to help our members make some impressive paper airplanes! Our members learned about different folding techniques and how materials affect the flight of their paper airplane. Then they got to put them to the test on our runway and even give the airplane launcher a try! It's a proud day for us at Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford! Today we cut the ribbon at a grand reopening ceremony for the Joseph D. Lapenta Northwest Boys & Girls Club. The building underwent a major renovation to add light and color and bring state-of-the-art opportunities to kids and teens in Hartford. We are so grateful to everyone who supported this project, helped bring its vision to life and celebrated with us today.
