In honor of International Women's Day, we’re proud to celebrate the visionary women who founded the first Boys & Girls Clubs in 1860 — Elizabeth Hammersley, Mary Goodwin, and Alice Goodwin. These remarkable leaders believed in giving boys who roamed the streets a positive alternative, opening their homes for refreshments, recreation and mentorship. Their efforts blossomed into “The Dashaway Club” in Hartford, Connecticut — the birthplace of what we know today as Boys & Girls Clubs. Today, we honor these trailblazers whose compassion and determination created a movement that continues to change lives nationwide.

This past Saturday, we partnered with?Westchester Soccer Club?to host an incredible day of tryouts at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle—and wow, what a turnout! Over 100 talented young athletes hit the field, showcasing their passion, dedication, and skills for a chance to earn a scholarship to the academy. ??? The energy was high, the competition was fierce, and the sun was shining—it was a perfect day for soccer! A huge thank you to Westchester Soccer Club Soccer Academy and to all the players who gave it their all! Stay tuned as we announce the scholarship winners soon! ????
