Boys & Girls Club of Fall River

Way to go, Fall River Flyers!!! The Club's swim team competed in the RIMA (Rhode Island / Mass) All Stars last week and made us so so proud! Nine swimmers represented the Club and finished with five top 5 placements, seven top 10 placements, a personal best time, and 2nd place for our 200 yard Freestyle Relay Team!!! The Club's Aquatics programming is thriving, with over 90 members currently enrolled in swimming lessons, many of whom will become future Flyers themselves! We love to see our pool filled with eager learners and competitors each night. Did you know that swimming lessons are FREE to all members thanks to the community's support of our aquatics programming? A special shout out to SwimEx, Inc. and the FALL RIVER WOMENS UNION for supporting the Club's aquatics programming and facilities. Three deserving and lucky Club members got to go to the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Monday thanks to Southcoast Health. Thank you, Southcoast Health for always thinking of our youth and giving them them this incredible opportunity!

Thirteen teen members had the honor of speaking with special guest, Clayton Timas. Clayton is "a leader and role model both on the court and off the court," basketball court that is (Cabo Verde Network). A New Bedford High graduate, he has a long history of giving back to local youth through coaching and mentorship, and played basketball at both Worcester State University and the the Cabo Verde national basketball team before an injury. Clayton was honored as the Bristol Community College Distinguished African American Alumnus of the Year in 2018. He built a career in banking, and is currently with Chase Bank as a Branch Manager. His advice and guidance was welcomed by our members during this Passport to Manhood program session. Thank you, Clayton! Passport to Manhood represents a targeted effort to engage young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership and positive behavior. Each participant receives a “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Each of the program’s 14 sessions use interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. It also includes a service project where boys learn the importance of giving back to the community. #GreatFuturesStartHere
