This past Wednesday, seven teens from our Brooklyn O'Malley Club represented Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore at the 2025 National Days of Advocacy in Washington, DC. Their mission? Championing teen mental health through their Peacemakers initiative - an effort to promote well-being by encouraging Clubs to establish Calming Corners in their spaces. These young advocates led meaningful discussions, gained valuable insights, and inspired others to take action for mental health awareness. Amazing volunteer opportunity for me today to speak with the kids at the Dorchester County Boys and Girls Club about self-love, self esteem, and the importance of positive affirmation. Kids received hair cuts, had their nails done, created works of art, had an amazing catered lunch and danced the afternoon away to a D.J. all in celebration of Self-Love Day! Thanks Boy’s and Girls Club for a truly inspiring day!

Our 2025 Maryland Boys & Girls Club Legislative Breakfast was held this morning at the?Governor Calvert House?in Annapolis. Thank you to Lieutenant Governor?Aruna Miller, for meaningfully connecting your own personal experience with our mission, as well as?Senator Chris Van Hollen, for your encouraging commitment to our continued statewide growth. We also thank Senators?Guy Guzzone,?Cory McCray?and?Antonio Hayes for your inspiring and encouraging remarks, in addition to all of the attending Maryland legislators,?Maryland Army National Guard,?Maryland State Police,?Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police?and special guests for taking the time to learn about our Maryland Clubs and the positive effect that they are having on our youth. Finally, we want to thank the youth who truly represented the personal impacts of this Movement – thank you to Maddison for leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance; as well as Chandice Hood (2024 Maryland State Youth of the Year) and Jaheid (Boys & Girls Club young leader), for your personal reflections on what the Club means to you. This event is a true representation of the network of support that has allowed us to meet the needs of Club members in such a holistic, trauma-informed and ultimately impactful way. Yesterday afternoon, Club members from Boys & Girls Clubs across Maryland participated in a memorable event, spending the afternoon with the Washington Commanders! Youth visited the team’s headquarters, where they were treated to fun and games as well as a meet-and-greet with staff, cheerleaders and the team’s mascot, Major Tuddy. In the spirit of giving, the Commanders also surprised the kids with holiday gifts—making this day truly unforgettable. ?? Congratulations Sean Davis and Boys & Girls Clubs of Carroll County for hosting a successful 5th Annual Polar Dunk Tank fundraising event on Giving Tuesday, December 3. The event’s grand total brought BGCCC to a grand total of $136,747 surpassing their $100K goal. Thanks to The Baltimore Sun for capturing the spirit of the day!
