On November 19th, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands celebrated another successful Youth of the Year event, presented by Cox Communications. The Clubs had seven finalists that competed to become the 2024 Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands Youth of the Year. However, the work began months prior to the event. Cox Communications, thank you so much for rolling out the red carpet for our seven finalists when they came to explore your offices and meet your employees. Last night, we celebrated the grand opening of the new Cox Communications Innovation Lab at our Mount View Boys & Girls Club! The state-of-the-art Innovation Lab is packed with tools, technology and high-speed internet to narrow the digital divide and help position our members for successful futures. In partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the $25,000 grant by Cox is one of 11 grants awarded across the country to celebrate 20 years of partnership between the two organizations. Last week, several Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands staff traveled to Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Midwest Leadership Conference in Milwaukee. Richard Webb, President & CEO, received the Vision & Spirit Award. This award is given to a professional who has served in the Boys & Girls Club Movement less than five years and who has provided impetus for the advancement of the Movement. Tom Kunkel, Chief Operations Officer, received the Contribution to the Profession Award. This award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution towards the advancement of the Boys & Girls Club Movement during the coarse of their career. Congratulations, Richard and Tom, and thank you both for your service to the Clubs!

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the ribbon-cutting and community open house of The Lakin Foundation Carter Lake Boys & Girls Club! The brand-new, state of the art facility features an innovation lab, art room, gym, and cafeteria and designated spaces for members 6-18 years old. Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands' Scholarship Luncheon presented by LinkedIn. The Clubs’ Scholarship Program awards alumni and current high school seniors who are active Club members, planning to attend an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational or trade school. Since 2016, 156 Club graduates have received Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands scholarships, including 94 first generation scholars. In total, $2,371,047 dollars has been invested in our next generation. This year’s Scholarship Luncheon featured a panel discussion led by current Scholarship Program participants and moderated by Scholarship & Success Committee member, Ande Johnson. On Friday, June 7th, nearly 500 Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands supporters gathered at Steelhouse Omaha for our annual fundraiser, On the Road. This year's event, On the Road to Cirque Du Club, featured Club member talent show acts and performances from Omaha Circus Arts. With the support of our Honorary Chair, Bridges Trust we were able to raise over $1,000,000 to support the youth in our community! Thank you to Jack Keenan from KETV for being our emcee and ringmaster. A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored, donated and attended On the Road. Your generosity ensures thousands of kids and teens have a safe, fun and educational place to go after school and in the summer.
