The Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia provide a safe place to learn and grow; ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals; life-enhancing programs and character development experiences; and hope and opportunity for more than 20,000 Philadelphia youth each year. Our Programs include: Arts & Culture, Character and Leadership, Education & Career Development, and Health & Life Skills. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia serves 22 sites in the area. This month, BGCP teens explored the power of policy, advocacy, and elevating teen voices in Washington D.C.! Thanks to The Family Dollar and BGCA’s Think Learn Connect Program that offers teens the space to explore the intersection between project-based learning and policy implementation on both a local and nationwide level! Our Club teens created a presentation that paired animal welfare policy and teen wellness strategies and met with congressional staffers and received constructive feedback! Our teens gained valuable skills in negotiation, public speaking, and collaboration!

On June 22nd nearly 80 teens from across Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia gathered for leadership event at the Ralph J Roberts Germantown Club. Teens took part in specialized seminars including sessions focused on E-Commerce, Podcasting, Culinary Arts, Veterinary Medicine, Sports Medicine, and First Aid and CPR. We welcomed the 1974 national youth of the Year, George Clark to share words of inspiration, and a representative from Old Navy was on-hand to share information about career opportunities. This event gave our teens a chance to elevate their voices and develop their passions. We’d like to thank all the partners who came out to support the event and the staff who worked behind the scenes to make the day a success!

That’s exactly what Thursday, April 25th, was like as the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia family gathered to honor BrightView Landscapes as the Legacy Tribute in the magnificent Union League. It was an enchanting night, filled with the kind of magic that comes from creating a landscape of opportunity for the city’s children. The evening sparkled in a garden of possibilities with a five-star meal that tantalized the taste buds and entertainment that kept hearts soaring. Celebrating with our hero and legendary Hall of Famer, Coach Dick Vermeil, whose passion for excellence inspires us all, the Coach’s Private Reserve Dinner, honoring BrightView, was a testament to the power of community and the unwavering commitment to shaping a better tomorrow for our youth! A Huge Thank you to our beloved presenting sponsors John Scheffey, Danielle Sadock, The Union League of Philadelphia, Vermeil Wines, and BelGioioso Cheese Inc., for believing in our youth and investing in the lives of the children who need them most. It took great leadership and support from our BOLD Champions and valued members of our Boys & Girls Club family, Emcees and Board members Ric Harris. Sean Bloodwell and the glorious Loraine Ballard Morrill to lead the audience through a magical evening filled with a four-course gourmet dinner, live entertainment, and a night of celebration as Tyler Perry perryhomes Utah, Pedro Barrera and Sarah Sherman Barrera enchanted the audience with their majestic voices! The evening received a special prayer for Philadelphia's children from Virginia Dixon while the audience wielded their paddles in a powerful bid to revolutionize the lives of Philadelphia's youth in honor of our Honoree and Legacy Tribute, BrightView Landscapes.
